Album Review: Rockwell Powers & ILL PiLL Presents: Kids in The Back LP

Though at times I found myself wanting a bit more from this album, I feel that the duo created a good Boom Bap sound that is sure to make a nice buzz in the Northwest hip-hop scene. The advance copy i was glad to receive, gave me more insight not only on Rockwell Powers the emcee but also to Seattle resident producer iLL PiLL. Soulful sounds, clashing snares and dark alley melodies carries you through the journey of the "Kids in the Back." What I like most about this album [as well as others] is that its not of the norm. The album gives you a quick high at the beginning, soothes you out in the middle and finishing with a nice banger towards the end.You will be graced with a precious bonus track not listed on the album that in my opinion gets an A+! Popular tracks on the album include "Funny Ft. Grynch," "Next Level Ft. Dj Reign" and "Faith Ft. Peter Baldwin." Rockwell Powers also has a nice amount of shows lined up this spring and summer to give you a taste of the album. Don't sale yourself short on this one, go get the album! "Kids in The Back" drops April 24th.
